String Academy at the Château Engers

As part of a new series of world-wide string academies, a unique team has joined forces with a unique location to bring together professors and students of the highest level from around the globe – living and working together in an inspiring, historical location. In addition to master-classes and at no additional costs the Engers Academy features chamber music groups and public concerts with piano. The accommodation at the château includes full board.

Kirill Troussov – Director & Founder

With many years of experience in master-classes, competitions, academies and online lessons, it has always been my dream to bring string academies to the next level – adding more valuable ingredients than the master-classes alone, especially chamber music projects and the concept of all participants not only working but also living together, creating a dense atmosphere, an enriching environment and an inspiring experience.

Having begun this dream with the Carl Flesch Academy, in 2023, I am delighted and thankful to have found a competent partner in the State Music Academy of Rhineland-Palatinate and its director Rolf Ehlers, who provides not only a unique location but also has many years of experience in music education and concert organisation.

Schloss Engers

Built in the 18th century between Cologne and Frankfurt, the Schloss Engers has left behind its original purpose as a château for hunting and pleasure and has transformed into an exciting venue for musical education and concerts, in modern times, operated by both the State Music Academy and the publicly funded foundation Villa Musica. It provides not only great rooms for string master-classes and concerts, but also guest rooms, both in the château and in the historical buildings next to it. Additionally, the château is the home of a museum for historic instruments, worth a visit.

Schloss Engers is located directly at the banks of the river Rhine, in the heart of a historical part of the city Neuwied called "Engers", after which our academy was named. The cultural history of this district goes back to the time of the Roman Empire, and many houses around the château are from midieaval times.
